My 2D concept art for my Rusty/Firepaw piece done in 3D, which you can find here: www.deviantart.com/wreckham/ar…I changed some very minor things in my sculpt, like broadening his muzzle and slightly altering the color of his eyes. When I make a complete model of him (the painting was based only on a sculpt of his head and chest) I'll be keeping the idea to be more on model in mind.
EDIT 3/29/2024: maybe someday i'll revisit this project

yeah warriors isn't exactly riveting literature but the characters are fun

I like reading Warriors (well, the first book) because I really enjoy the characters. They’re just really enjoyable. And I like that Rusty has different beliefs than the wildcats. I also like reading the book because of the laughably bad parts, you know, the parts and the names which sound like they were written by a 12 year old. A personal favourite of mine is bloodclan. It just makes me laugh! But overall, I think warriors is ok. Nothing more, nothing less.

the characters are most likely the best thing about warriors. it appeals very well to its target demographic, aka kids who like xenofiction and feeling mature becus their book contains blood, becus of all the silly shit in it. i for one stan bloodclan always

I have to admit though I haven't read Warriors (and I honestly still wonder if I should), I really like this design.
Such a simple and practical cat design yet super expressive and stylized. ^^

if you ever do decide to read it, it's at least very accessible given how popular it is. there's some google drive out there somewhere with every single book in it. frankly it's not a great series. i don't like it as much as i like ginga despite how easy it is to get into, but it's nice to have context to the fanart and the iconic scenes are fun to read.

Yeah, the fandom seems to be very divisive on how good the books are, but it seems to be loved by most people who like feral talking animal stories in general.
Who knows, maybe I shall start a long overdue Warriors phase someday.

it definitely has Talking Animal Society appeal. i'd at least find Into The Wild and see how you like that if you're interested.
