Rosemary... the name felt strange as the new creature stretched her limbs. What had she been saying before? She rmeembered saying something to her Mistress... something about... undoing something? Then she remembered feeling panicked, but that didn't make any sense. She looked up at her Mistress, the Massive green creature looked down at her, massive wings stretching regally. The smaller Guardian purred as she looked up at her Mistress.
"Now young one..." Angela spoke with authority causing Rosemary to flinch and straighten up. "You have not yet finished growing into your maturity yet, my child, however, you are old enough now to aid me in guarding and growing this land for The First Ones," she walked forward as grass and vines seemed to sprout from her footsteps, even on the strange unnatural black stone the humans used to travel on. Rosemary pounced up beside her Mistress, excited to learn from such a gifted mentor. Someday, she hoped she could grow her own pair of wings just like Angela...

As muck as I liked human face of the previous Guardian, this makes sense in terms of Rosemary’s perception. She doesn’t need to see her daughter’s face sprouting from the neck of a beast anymore. That dynamic is gone, and she has fully imprinted on her Mistress. The Princess Mononoke/Ōkami-inspired plant-growing footsteps is a nice touch as well.
Thanks for this series. You’ve crafted something truly strange and beautiful.
