The whole night had been okay. The decorations weren't that great. They never were. But when did anyone decide to come and look to see if our gym looked like Vegas? It was eerily hot by the speakers where I had been dancing for the last thirty minutes with many of my friends. I needed to get away for a moment or more. Besides my ex had been hounding me to make-oout with her to help get her boyfriend off.
I walked over to the water table to cool myself down. When I saw the girl from my math class, Katie, standing by herself I grabbed an extra drink and walked over to her. I gestured for her to take the glass. She obliged. She looked at it and then me.
“So what are you doing right now?” She asked after taking a quick sip.
“Well right now I was coming over here to give you this drink. I think I accomplished that.” I said loud enough for her to hear my tone and for me to get a small smile from it. All of a sudden the song change and most everyone on the dance floor changed positions so they could grind with there dates. I heard her gasp slightly.
“Do you like this song?” I decided to ask. When she started to nod her head frantically I grabbed her glass of water and set mine, after draining it, and hers down on the nearest table and walked back over to her.
She didn't wait for me to ask her to dance. She knew my intentions. She grabbed my hand and pulled me out to the dance floor about five feet away from the speaker, right where I had been before running into her. She spun around and pushed her butt up against my crotch. She moved her hips along to the beat taking mine with them and moved her head around enough to tell me that she was enjoying this just as much as I was. She grabbed my hand and lightly trailed hers around it. Then she grabbed my hand and held on.
All of a sudden every girl on the dance floor, Katie included in that, dropped to the ground holding there mans hands and all the guys just seemed to sigh under there breaths. She popped herself back up and did a turn. She rubbed one of her hands along my neck, and the other she cupped my hip with, then she turned back around and we were back at the start. Since we were dancing right next to my best friend, Allen and his girlfriend, Victoria, who happened to be good friends with Katie, me and Allen just laughed and nodded at one another. Then he and his girlfriend started some intense making out.
“Lucky bastard.” I said very lowly. I didn't want her to know that I wanted to do the same with her.
“Did you say something?” She turned her head around and screamed at me so I could hear it.
“Not a thing. Just dancing.” I screamed back. She just went 'Uh-huh'. Then the song changed. It went to a song slow enough to do the awkward slow dance with. One of her friends came up and started talking to her. I couldn't understand anything. She turned around and cupped her hand around my ear and said that she'd be right back. I just nodded and motioned that I would stay. I watched her go and grab a guys hand and walk out of sight. I had been left during a slow dance. That was a downer. But my friend Jason put me in between him and my friend Brittany so we could all dance together.
“I think she went to go find her boyfriend.” I told them. The song was soft enough I didn't have to shout quite as loud.
“Who?” Brittany asked me.
“The girl I was just dancing with. The blonde?” I said trying to see if Brittany could see her face as clearly as I could.
“Shes straight isn't she?” They both asked simultaneously.
“God I hope not. And with the way she was dancing, I dunno. But if she comes back then I'm leaving you two. Clear?”
“Sure.” Jason said and Brittany nodded. I saw her come back and let go of the guys hand. I broke loose of my captors hold on me. I walked up to her slightly.
“I came back for you!” She said and smiled. I had to ask her.
“Was that your boyfriend? That guy over there?” I saw her smile get a touch bigger.
“No.” She hadn't stopped smiling, and I couldn't figure out why. Other than maybe the obviousness of my question. “ No, my boyfriend is back at our table.”
“Why aren't you dancing with him, then? Can't he dance?” I was sounding sad. I was pathetic. I had barely had a full conversation with this girl before tonight. But she was still smiling.
“Oh he can dance. Better than most people, actually. He's just being a jackass. And I want to dance with you.” She gave me a more seductive smile instead of the usual goofy grin she has. This time she looked at me under her glasses and barely showed any of her braces.
“Well I am honored. Mon Chere.” I said with my best french accent and a slight bow. She kept her hands around my neck but kept playing with the bare skin at the nape of my neck. I made sure to keep a tight hold of her waist. I didn't want to let her get away again. I made that mistake once tonight. The entire time she looked away. Looking for her friend or someone other than me. Even though they were all surrounding us. I couldn't help but stare at her. She had her head at an angle, but I could still see her beautiful eyes, her perfect nose, and her full and delightful lips. The song came to an end and another faster paced song started up. She turned herself around so that we could start grinding again.
I looked over and saw she was signing with my Victoria. I knew a little but this was advanced stuff. She signed the letters D-i. I had no idea why. But Victoria looked confused. So I told Katie,
“I think you mean B.”
She twisted her neck around to blush slightly, and nod. She looked at Victoria and signed 'yes'. Then they started speed signing again. But they never stopped 'dancing' with me and Allen.
I looked at Allen and asked “Do you get what they are saying?”
“A little bit but not much.” He said with a grin. Katie and Victoria laughed. Victoria turned her head around so she could tell him that was the whole point.
“Do you not want me to know what you are saying?” He said in a playful tone. She signed very quickly ' we don't want her to know what we are saying' and he just nodded his head. I laughed and turned her around so she was facing me.
“Are you hiding things from me?” I asked nonchalantly.
“Only something I don't want you to know yet.” She said with a different kind of smile. It was half sad. I wasn't sure what the other half was.
“And what would that be?” I asked quietly. The whole dance had gone quiet, or so it seemed. She turned around and kept on grinding but she leaned forward. She kept going until her forehead was pressed against mine. I couldn't see her eyes anymore. We had fogged up her glasses. Or I had with my heavy breathing.
She pulled her forehead away from mine and leaned forward. She kissed me ever so lightly. Just a brush of lips. She pulled away and made me wrap my arms around her waist. And we danced the night away.
