I just found this. The rapidographs are good, but high maintenance. I find that if you leave them sitting with nibs angled up they don't clog as much. I use the Copic Multuliner SP, they are great but the brush nib get worn pretty easy. Prismacolor makes a nice set of pens also. Nice bold blacks and they are about $17.00 for a set of 7 or 8. The set I have, has a chisel tip and a brush tip. Check them out.

The Prismacolor does not have a small enough tip for me, but I do like the brushes.... have not tried the Copic yet, but I hear that the copic color does not smear as much with copic liners as the microns sort of due.

There are two types of Copic pens, the regular multiliners and the SP. The regular multi-liners comes in two sets A2 and B2. The B2 comes with two different size brush nibs and is a nine pen set, A2 no brush and seven pens. The SP are great replacement for Rapidographs, cheaper to replace the nibs. Check them out.

Also, I like the Alvin Penstix. Cheap. Cheap. Cheap. Three different sizes. Good for practice and quick sketches. About $4 for three.

Really? The only time I ever have any problems with my Rapidographs clogging is when I leave them sitting for a long time (like months) with the ink still in them. I've had mine for 5 years and absolutely swear by them. And I was required to get the set by my Illustration teacher who said he'd been using his set for the last 20. If you take good care of them, they will take good care of you

Yeah.. I really had trouble with them. The ones I have you have to dropper ink into the little thing to fill them. In the instructions it even implies that they clog and to "shake" them. I have heard from some that there are ones where the breathing system and the ink cartridge are all one part. Therefore you don't have the issues i had. I still use mine to do panel outlines.

Hmmm... they look like the ones in the picture, and I have a dropper, but maybe they are setup differently, dunno.

Well... who knows how long mine sat in a warehouse waiting to come stay at my house. As I said... I still use them to do panels.
