One of the co-founders of the biggest organizations that does this sort of shit (Exodus International) admitted it doesn't work. He was making money off of people thinking it was working, and admitted it wasn't.

Pretty much every medical association in western society considers their methods ineffective and harmful. That's factual basis enough for most people, bro.

One dude, versus hundreds who said it worked for them. You're standing on water.

It's not just one dude running all the medical associations saying it's harmful.

Ok, enough. You can't honestly be saying it works for nobody, that's as absurd as me saying it works for everybody. Do I think it works for most people? Mmmm I'm guessing probably not. Is it harmful? I don't see by what measure it would be harmful as long as it's counseling, not aversion therapy. I can't imagine people are being electrocuted whenever they get aroused. Even that wikipedia page you so proudly cited said clearly in the investigated case there was no signs of abuse. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't, doesn't have to be an all or nothing thing man, chill.

I never said it never works, I am saying it usually doesn't and should not be passed off as something that usually does. I believe the term "Even a broken clock is right twice a day" would apply here.

It's not as bad as that, but it's still pretty widely discredited. Any sort of counseling that includes shaming is generally a bad idea.

I never cited a Wikipedia page, that was someone else.

Oh, my mistake I apologize. That's a fair criticism, therapy based upon shame is probably not smart considering the possibility of it being "incurable", in other treatments for things such as gambling or smoking then sure, nothing wrong with a little guilt.

I could see them using those methods if they were dealing with sex addicts or something yeah, but homosexuals in general?

It's okay, I've made the same mistake.

Thank you for standing up for ex-homosexuals. Unfortunately ex-homosexuals are hated and bashed, called liars and all sorts of names and insults, like the user who posted this deviation is doing. They want tolerance, but they refuse to tolerate.

It probably won't go to well if I start saying "no one is gay, they're just delusional." Hypocrites.

Just a reminder that one of the co-founders of the ex-gay Exodus International program later on admitted that he was still gay and that it doesn't fucking work. Honestly I think anyone who claims they're 'cured' are heavily repressed gays or bisexuals who try to repress their homosexual side.

I have yet to find a non-religious who thinks you can be an "ex-gay". Just a little thing i've noticed.
