I always felt that Mycroft reminding Sherlock about Redbeard was his way of telling him, "Remember that time you loved something and it was taken from you? Don't let it happen again." Mycroft knows that Sherlock loves Mary and especially John, and is telling him not to get involved because they will be focusing more on each other now with no time for Sherlock.

It might be more that Mycroft is trying to tell Sherlock that he has to save John and Mary so that he won't lose them the way he lost Redbeard. The sad thing is, Redbeard was probably one of the few friends he had when he younger. Now John is the only true friend he has as an adult and he's afraid of losing him as well. It's also obvious that he's starting to consider Mary a friend as well and is afraid of losing her as well. Mycroft could also mean that Sherlock shouldn't care about John and Mary because they'll leave and forget him. This is obviously not the case though because it's quite obvious that both John and Mary care about Sherlock and would never leave him.

When I was little, we had a dog, which was my first friend. I remember how sad I was when I had to say goodbye to him.....and everytime I see that scene with Redbeard it's just...so beautiful C:

Thank you and no I use mark pen，I never had a dog more than one month，I know how soft and sweet they are but I have no chance to be with them until the day come……maybe someday in further I will have a dog，my dog，I think that would be a great thing even one day he will leave，because the most important thing is not the day we lost them，but the days them with us，right？
