Description I've finished up the design work for the first character set to go w/ my new minifigure line "Action Formers". This set is a visual homage to Tailgate from IDW's More Than Meets the Eye comic series.

Once I've tested the parts you'll be able to get them from my Shapeways shop: [link]

The name is, of course, changed for copyright reasons. The minifigure is based on an articulated protoskeleton that you attach armor parts to. The figure ends up being about 2" tall but doesn't transform so it's more of an Action Master in that regard but is more posable.

as long as you don't mind doing paint and assembly it's a pretty awesome way to get stuff that would never get produced otherwise.

Oh my...I guess I'd better start following you in earnest; this version of Tailgate is hands-down the best I've ever seen. And so very wee; I'm impressed that you got such articulation into such a little guy. And so very collectable too; I will definitely start watching your Facebook page for releases.

Excellent work!

thanks a lot

I've got 1 more bot to do to complete "wave 1" of the Action Formers.

Do you think it would be worth my while to look into a Kickstarter for these guys? Maybe get real molds made and all that?

Oh, excellent! And I saw in the comments that a certain psychiatrist might be on the "to do" list as well, which makes me incredibly happy. XD

Oooh...I'm definitely not knowledgeable enough about what kind of appeal these little guys might have in a much larger market. A decision like that would probably depend on several things; prospective client interest, how much molds would cost, how it would affect the quality of what you do, if you could raise enough while still being able to sell the resulting product at the price you want, etc. Lots of things to consider, but it sounds like you're already building a bit of a client base with these little guys! Best of luck to you in whatever you decide.

LOL thanks ^__^

I think that "Database" will be next just to finish off the minibots and I'll start "wave 2" off with the next larger toyless characters.

patience youngling. I'd feel terrible if I let anyone buy something I designed and it turned out to be crap, especially something this small and complicated.. too much can go wrong. Might be okay, but I don't want to risk YOUR money on that guess.
