Description
EDIT: This one is FOR SALE: $50 USD, + $7 shipping.Note me to claim it. I accept Paypal and USPS Money Orders.
EDIT: And it's is SOLD. These don't last long.
If you like this, I have a really neat one in the works that should be up for sale soon.
The second of two bone hairforks that I've been working on recently.
The idea is that the client will pick one, and the other will be for sale in my Etsy shop and here on DA.
Where the other fork uses a single strand flowing knot, this one has a more geometric look with a two strand knot and lots of hard corners and straight lines.
The knotwork for the main panel was designed from scratch for this fork by my husband Phillip, as he's better at designing knots for enclosed shapes than I am.
The black detailing is black Testor's enamel.
The bone is bone left over from the mounting process for taxidermy mounting, from an area of the bone on the ridge of the nose in large herbivores. This could be elk, caribou or large African antelope as I bought the bones in a mixed box from *Zhon . None of the animals were killed just so I could carve their bones, and I consider the use of the bones as a way to honor the animal by not wasting their parts.
Both of them together:

This absolutely stunning piece made me think about making a hairpin very often.
Now I'm by far not as good at carving as you are. But I thought I'd show you anyways.
This: sta.sh/01ddmithgbyq is what you inspired me to do.
It is a first try. So by no means perfect.
But I like it and as it is very sturdy it can hold up with the amount of hair I have.

That's good work. My first carvings were not as good as my current work.
