Hi all, I'll be uploading my httyd fan-comic / universe here on Deviantart, as it's better for files of these types : )

I hope to make this a continuing project over the summer, and will be uploading a new page each Sunday. I already have the first two chapters written and planned out, so I hope that's enough content for now!

This is the first time I've done a project like this before... Seriously, at least. I have never made a comic nor have I genuinely written a story before! So I'm hoping this will help me to learn how to express the original worlds I've been brewing inside my head for years now! Piggy backing off an already existing canon will be a wonderful way for me to make that transition, I think.

I also hope this journey will help me to become more comfortable with using backgrounds in my compositions! This will just be a big learning experience overall. With that in mind, feedback is always appreciated!

I'll also upload the full version of this illustration without text.

Quality of Bearing - chapter I - mini synopsis -

Weevil is a young adult lightfury, living a sheltered life in the Hidden World. Rule under the current alpha is simple- don't challenge authority, and you'll be ok.
There is a largely unspoken expectation in this society, a dark secret fueled by the Alpha's desire for perfection: Those born defected will be disposed of.
Weevil knows of the unwanted children. He knows not to think too hard about them, and he knows not to talk; but when he finds himself face to face with one- all bets are off.

This story takes place about 100 years before the events of Httyd 1. I'm really looking forward to producing it!
