Ummmm, I'm not sure of the specifics.... I bought it in a bag with lots of other types and it was pot luck what I picked

Check with a local garden center. If it is the sativus, you can dry the stamen and use it in your cooking!

I try to use different angles and not always concentrate on the stamen... However I always seem to end up doing so

When you compose look at all parts of the image in the viewfinder. With practice you will start to see these little things and adjust before you take the shot.
