I'm doing Tom Hardy's creature painting course in Udemy and this is my take on the Howler project -Β a bipedal predor type dinosaur with a crest on its head with howl being its signature feature.I took inspiration mainly from cassowary birds, which are pretty close to dinosaurs themselves. And various raptors of course

Ah, that's an interesting phenomenon indeed! In this case it may be explained by taking inspiration from the cassowary birds, what may have been done by some paleoartists that portrayed Guanlong

To be fair, some chickens are attack chickens themselves!
Imagining them being the size of cassowary bird, running your way with a hard crest on their heads, pointed right at you, really puts it into perspective. Scary!

It was based on a Cassowary bird and I see that many gigantoraptor depiction are also inspired by it so I guess it could be its cousin ^^
