This is pretty much what I was thinking throughout the entire game. I mean seriously, I only sided with the mages at the end because I needed Anders to win whatever battle was coming up - he was the freaking healer! I couldn't win without him, the son of a bitch! And then EVERY MAGE I SAW PROCEEDED TO TURN INTO AN ABOMINATION AND ATTACK ME ANYWAY. WHAT THE FUCK, YOU GUYS? I'M SAVING YOUR ASSES HERE.

I don't own Dragon Age or any of its characters. That honour lies with Bioware.

Oh come on! Blood magic isnt inherently bad(canon hawke is a blood mage) and Merill's people got themselves killed, it wasn't her fault at all. As far as Anders goes, I'd be pretty upset too if all my pals were getting made into emotionless drones just because they were born with magic. I thought it was pretty obvious that Orsino just snapped at the end when he looked down and saw all the young mages he was trying to protect dead at his feet.
THAT ASIDE, yes it was ridiculous how many mages turned into evil demon creatures. But really, it's not like their other options were any more appealing(emotionless drone fate worse than death, or prisoner for life with an increasingly paranoid and insane knight commander who can have you killed on a whim in charge of you).

That's why I sided with the mages in the end. XD Everyone was all "MAGES ARE EVIL" and "IT IS THE LAW", but then Merrill was just being her adorable self and I couldn't refuse.
I'm not saying that the mages are in the wrong - I agree that they were being oppressed to the point of having no other choice - but that argument wouldn't do much for the humor value of the comic. Plus, if you side with the Templars, the dead mages around Orsino were "willing sacrifices", implying that he killed them himself. I think Orsino just snapped, period. XD (Too bad, too, because I liked his voice. And staff, which I promptly stole for aesthetic reasons.)

Otherwise...yeah, hard to be pro-mage when they kept turning out to be malificar or dabbling with evil stufff. Personally I'm more for loose control; keep the Templars and the Circle, but give mages more wiggle room. Maybe something like parole where they can be in town as long as they check in with one of the Templars every now and then.

That's pretty much it. Give mages too much freedom and the rest of the world will turn out like Tevinter, but keep them on too tight a leash and many mages will turn to blood magic to regain freedom. Compromise, people! Why does no one think this oppression can end without bloodshed? Also, thanks for commeting! This page feels kinda lonely. XD
