Yes, I know that these aren't the TMNT from the animated 87 series, but it wasn't that easy to find good HQ pictures of them in poses that would initially make sense. Besides, the 2003 versions look much more serious and look appalled that their first NES game was completely butchered up like that.
Anyway, one of the earliest of reviews with a title card but before the theme song, this spawned a few lyrics to the song and one of the most memorable rants that the AVGN has ever done. His review can be seen here: [link]
A year later, AVGN reviews the TMNT 3 movie in two parts. Note that these episodes actually count as "official" due to them being numbered and listed in the AVGN list. Despite the fact that there is no subtitle for TMNT 3 in the movie (the Nerd emphasizes this point), years later the subtitle "Turtles in Time" became official. Although it can still be debated that "Turtles in Time" is the name of the SNES, Arcade and XBox games and not the movie, the DVDs are now emblazoned with the subtitle and will likely remain that way forever.
