But...how? How did you make those lines? I used brush tool (with size of 5 pixels) and all I got was a line full of blurry pixel specks near the edge...

The pen tool in Photoshop makes really smooth lines

Didn't work for my arts :/
Do you have any techniques for smooth lines?

Did you try the pen tool? Click once to make a sharp corner, click and drag to make a smooth curve. You can changed points you've already placed by holding Control. It helps to have the "rubber band" checkbox activated when using the pen tool.

I did try the pen tool, and the end result is not satisfactory.
I should get used to it by tracing alphabets...
