But please do your research before considering to buy a pig. They're not like dogs & their care can be quite extensive. So many end up homeless every year because people don't know quite what they're getting into & the pigger ends up destroying their house.

I'v never had a pig as a pet before, are hey hard to take care of? Im so intrigued now! can the be house trained? what do they eat? hew big do they get? It's so cute! I want one now!!! :heat: Love:

They're great! Though they're not for everybody. They can get quite large if not pure breed. MOST "backyard breeders" have cross bred them w/farm hogs over the years & these pigs can be in access of 800 lbs! Definitely buy a pure breed, as they generally only reach the size of the average medium sized dog. They can be house trained like a dog, or litter box trained like a cat (pine shavings instead of kitty litter) They don't shed, or smell like a dog. They are EXTREMELY clean, contrary to the stigma that's been put on them. They are every bit as affectionate as a dog, but MUCH more intelligent. They are 4th on the intelligents scale after Humans, Chimps & Dolphins, so they WILL try to outsmart you.
They do require hoof trimming & tusk trimming (only the boys get tusks) & they have certain special needs that dogs do not. They will "root" around your house, as this is a natural behavior for them. So give them plenty of stimulation (toys, root box, etc.) in their room & they shouldn't disrupt your furniture. Unlike most dogs, pigs WILL figure out how to open cabinets, refrigerators etc. So child proofing is a must. Though in my opinion, if you can deal with their silly quirks, they make the best pet around.
