A Man Died Today…
His name was George.
Most people thought of him as nothing more than a disabled drug addict.
But I would like to think more of him than that.
You could say I was close to him, but yet I have never met him.
He was a father, a husband, and a human being.
How good of one I shall never know.
But someone should speak well of him right?
I try to speak, but no words come out.

A Man Died Today…
His name was George.
He was my father.
Disease plagued him, and left the world before he reached 60.
Those who disliked him say the cancer was karma for his past sins.
Though he may have sinned, I wish that he be forgiven.
Some say I share more in common with him than just appearance.
They say that we had a similar outlook on the world.
An outgoing, calm, and logical outlook on a world that so easily stole him away from those he loved.

His name was George.
He had two children.
Born by separate mothers, but accepted all the same.
Apparently neither of which he cared enough about to love.
At least not more than himself.
He lived alone, in a trailer, miserable as an old man could be.
He was given less than a year to live.
He didn’t make it past a few months, less than half of the time he was given.

His name was George Lawrence Goodwin Jr.
Father to Jessica and Laurie.
Former husband to Jody.
He died on January 14, 2009.
Just shy of his 57th birthday.
Wherever he may be, I wish him the best, deserving or not.
I love you Dad, even though I never got the chance to know you…
