I knew it was Kirn from the thumbnail! He's so snarly and awesome in this; I love it! His red eye looks so nasty and his green eye looks so dead... Also, backlighting is win.
One crit, though. It looks like you forgot the third scar going across the other two, under his eye?

Really amazing! The details in the background are really great and it looks very special. The shading is strange here, but on the other hand it makes the guy look even more crazy and strangely expressive!
You didnt really use brushes for the background, at least not the ones you usually used, did you? It just looks so different...

I did use a few brushes. I used a mixture of grass brushes, a couple of tree brushes for the trees in the background (not the one on fire) and one lightning brush with some editing.

The shading on the snarling snout is really beautiful, its so soft and simple yet looks so intricate at the same time. You really displayed emotion well in this.
