Description
I want you to listen to me very carefully, Harry. You're not a bad person. You're a very good person, who bad things have happened to. Besides, the world isn't split into good people and Death Eaters. We've all got both light and dark inside us. What matters is the part we choose to act on. That's who we really are.So, revision went out the window - again. I found myself watching the final Harry Potter movie today, I watched it for the first time directly after Part 1 at about 3am with my buddy, but by about half way I got kinda tired so I didn't take everything in completely. So yeah, I kinda just sat and watched it again in my agonising wait for Pottermore and days where I actually have plans. So, it's kind of a sad reflection the movie left me with. I wanted to draw something Harry Potter related, but not from the last movie as all my favourite guys are dead by then.
So, I sat and drew this picture of my favourite Harry Potter character ever: Sirius Black. He just makes it for me. As much as I find Harry annoying and moody, Sirius is the closest person he had as a father figure. He had huge skeletons in the closet what with feeling the regret with not being the Potter's secret keeper. Spending twelve years locked away for a crime he didn't commit...I dunno, he just holds a lot of traits that I think are well-developed and lovely. Yeah, I am a Sirius fangirl, deal with it B[...
Anyway, I figured nobody really draws many scenes with Sirius in them- especially not in his dog form. So this picture is around the time when Sirius is trying to get to Peter Pettigrew in Hogwarts. I figured he probably had to make a few failed attempts and had some close calls with the dementors whilst trying to scout out that nasty rat in Hogwarts. So here he is, broken out from Azkaban, disguised in his animagus form, running away from what looks like a failed attempt to get into the grounds unoticed.
The pose is referenced with kind permission from ~blackunia 's deviation: [link] I loved the pose she had here, I'd love to learn to draw with more dynamic poses that can speak to viewers of the work as hers did to me. Please return her kind favour to me by paying her beautiful gallery a visit, it'll be well worth your time!
On another crediting note (unless it isn't already hugely obvious), the background of Hogwarts with the Dementors is from google images- not by any means drawn by me and I claim no credit for the background. The link to it is here: [link] I have used this texture, also: [link]
Okay. It's pretty late now. And I doubt anybody has actually read this anyhoo. Sorry Commissioners, this was genuinely quite a quick impulse drawing, I am working on your Commissions. If you want indications of the progress on your pieces, feel free to note me.

Thanks very much It was very kind of you to write this for me, it always means a lot when people do
My anatomy does need working on, I'm trying to think more outside the box now and to draw some move adventurous poses which I'm far from used to, so the anatomy is going to look off- it usualy does anyway, but y'know XD It's trickier when you're trying it from angles you've never drawn from before. I'm just hoping that over time and a lot of practice the things that are wrong ad iffy will gradually improve It's good to hear about the legs, I'm assuming you mean the front legs in your comment- I can see what you mean....it's hard to know how to fix it, really. Perhaps if I ever re-draw it I should try to find a refence photo of a dog in a similar pose and work from that
I'm not too bothered about him looking like a wolf, anyway. Considering that in the third movie (if I hadn't read the book) I would have thought he was a wolf, anyway by the way they made him look. As for the background, I put in my artists' comments box about how it is not by me XD;;; There is no way in God's earth that I could do a background like that- the image is just a screenshot from one of the movies
Thanks very much, though. Your comments have been helpful to me and I shall work to use them to improve in my next pieces

I'm glad that you can take any constructive crit, it makes me happy to see you in such a good mood.
Anyways, all I have to say is practice! ^^ If you want, you can take a look through my gallery and see how to get those pesky legs right. ^^
I'm excited to see your next piece!

Of course I can xD I like to think so, anyway. It seems silly to ask for critiques if I don't want to listen to them ^^ I looked in your gallery, but I didn't see any canine references or anything canine for that matter (may just be my poor looking skills, though :s)

I know sevirus as a dog but here he looks like a wolf , therfore i refer him as a wolf
.incredible drawing , the concept of the art piece is strong and moving . the glow of the canine's eyes is is really well done aswell
however with all this said , one needs to understand that eyes are the window to the soul , therfor all emtion is put there. your wolf's eyes are not mischivious enough , if you can get this and pheraps add a gruffness to his fur , then you would have a spot on wolf master piece.
well done on your hard work , remember that eyes are everything , and you will go far

Thanks very much I tend to stick with the representation of Sirius as a more wolf-like dog as that is how I envisioned the grim, and that's how he was shown in The prisoner of Azkaban, he looked more like a wolf than a dog in that film.
I understand what you mean about the eyes, if anything I feel I could have tried to build more emotion in there. But as for them not being mischevious enough - that was not the expression I was trying to get at all. If I was drawing him in the Marauders era then perhaps, but I wanted him to look more paranoid, frightened and vulnerable in this piece as he is on the run from the dementors, after all. I agree with your point about his fur, he should look more scruffy, especially if he's running and on the run.
Anyway, thanks very much for this, I have taken your comments into account and hopefully it'll be better next time

This is.. wow. EXtremely good! k so heres the bad things (not many lol) His face looks kinda... odd. I think its because of how the wrinkles on his muzzle and forehead.his nose is a little bit too off the muzzle, and the left ear is a little wobbly. lol i think thats it for bad things. Good:
The anatomy is perfect. I really think you worked hard on this. You made the fur not too smooth, and not to fluffy. His face... oh gawd. you can see the pain hes in. I have nothing for the background cause its just a pic lol. his feet are like, perfect. The shading: amazing dude. Purely amazing. ^u^ excellent job!

Haha, wow! This is the fastest critique I've ever recieved ^^ I feel like I barely uploaded the thing XD Thank you very much for taking the time to do this for me.
I see very much what you mean with the ear and face, that bothered me throughout the drawing process, eventually I sketched a compromise and gave up on fiddling with it XD I'm not very experienced and drawing the wrinkles between the eyes on animals when they're pulling certain expressions (mainly because I don't often draw them with the expressions where they show). However, it's helpful that you've pointed these faults out to me because then I can work on them next time !
The shading is actually something I dislike a lot about this picture, I was trying a very slightly different approach to it, but it's interesting for me that you like that, so that's nice to hear Once again, thank you very much! I hope I can use your constructive comments to help me in the future

That's so cute!
I love that Marauder grimace. "Hello my former guards, now you see me, now you don't. Wait, you never did. Bye."
Very dinamic, and a great choice of the reference for the pose.

How are there so little comments on this? I mean, if I could somehow form my reaction to this unbelievable picture into words...it would be a giganic comment! Firstly, I totally agree with everything you said about Sirius. I'm pretty sure he's one of my top favorite characters. *grumbles on about stupid veils* Secondly, I really love the pose you used in this (thank you blackunia), does it sound odd to say this fits his mischeivous side? Makes no sense but it does...Anyway, fantastic part on the partially glowing eyes. Fabulous job on this (:

Aaw wow, thank you so much! It's very rare for me to recieve such a nice comment, it's clear you took your time to write it and read my comments as well (an even more rare occurance XD!) It really is appreciated that you'd take the time out to write such kind words, they really do mean the world to me and are what motivate me to continue to try and improve! *also grumbles on about stupid veils* I'd love too write you a massive comment back to thankyou for this, too! I don't think individuals always realise just how much a comment can mean to an artist who's not incredibly recognised, it's always very supportive, thank you once again!
