I think it's cannon that Ruby is reffered to as a girl, even though the gems technically have no gender lol (:

Wow a lot of people sure are liking this show i do tooΒ
I really like these characters and you did a great job on them too! Do you mind me asking how you did the lineart like how the outer lines is black but the inner lines arnt?

Yeah, It's a great show with quite original characters, and a cool concept! I love the designs of these guys, and really enjoyed drawing them!
Of course I don't mind, but I do have to warn you that I'm kind of bad at explaining things, haha ;;
I use Paint tool SAI, and usually put my lines on different layers (ex. a separate layer for hair, skin, and clothes ) this isn't necessary, but I find it easier later on. After I color the picture, I take a slightly darker color than the shadow color I used on the specific item I'm working with. Then I go to that item's line layer and create a new layer on top of it. I then set this layer to 'clipping group' so that it will keep the original line shape. Then I just color on the inside of the picture making sure to keep the outside line black.
It's easier to do than explain, trust me! It does take a little extra work, but i definitely think it's worth it (:
