(I've always wanted to do my take on what a seemingly 'perfect' person would actually be like, and I hope I've done a good job fitting that in Elle's backstory.)

Background:

Elle grew up as a typical popular girl. She received her cutie mark at a young age, showing a talent for decorating her own room and helping set up parties and school events. Her new money parents showered her with material gifts, praise, and high expectations. She would join beauty pageants for her mother, and study hard for her father. Even as a filly, She knew she wasn't just a regular pony. Her father is the Chairman of a Medical institute in Manehattan, and holds a lot of influence because of this. Many people much older than her would coo "Do you know how special you are?" when they realized she was her father's daughter. Unfortunately, such glamour comes with a price, and she was not the nicest filly because of this. Elle did very well in school, to please her parents. She was very outgoing and had many friends, but took all of them for granted. Because of her untouchable demeanor, she was sought after by many colts in school. However, she would often break the hearts of any suitor when she was bored of them. "The fact is, I'm just out of your league." she would say, with a heartlessly sympathetic sigh. "It's nothing personal. We can still be friends..."

Immediately after School, Elle left her home with a small fortune from her parents to help her find a job. Instead of using the money wisely, she would often go out to parties with her friends and buy the newest styles in fashion. It was as if a spotlight was turned on her wherever she went. She loved it.

Unfortunately, not all good things are meant to last, and this hit Elle as her credit cards began to decline one by one. Elle was embarrassed and panicked about what people would think of her now. They would all leave her because she was poor and jobless, she thought. She locked herself away in her apartment to avoid her friends, and made up excuses when they tried to contact her. When her rent came into question, Elle knew she wouldn't be able to stay in Manehattan anymore.

Pristine eventually made her way to Canterlot. She had dreamed about living there when she was younger. The glamour and prestige peaked her interest, and what better a place to start over than where the princesses started the cycle of each day and night. She scraped by in Canterlot by reselling the expensive clothing she had bought. It was enough for her to stay in a cheap hotel for three months as she searched for a job. One of these interviews was for a manager position at a little boutique in town, to no avail. The manager was a lovely lady, but she had already picked a more experienced mare for the job. Taking a bit of pity on Elle, the pony directed them to one of their contacts. They were Hiring new models, she explained, and the pony even promised to put in a good recommendation for her. A few ponies commented on how she would make a good model when she was younger, but it always seemed like a superficial compliment. It had never occurred to her that she would actually model for a career. But she was desperate. There was one factor that made it quite appealing: It was something she could do. It was something those years of being popular had taught her to do almost instinctively. Charm, Charisma, showing off. Maybe they would come in handy now.

She was offered the modeling job, as the manager thought she showed great potential. It didn't pay too highly, depending on how many shoots were needed. Despite this offset, she rents a room in a house owned by a nice old mare. The mare lets Elle live there for cheap in exchange for housework (and a little help with remodeling).

She realizes that she still has a long way to go. But, she's also come a very long way. She's managed to get a bit of her old self confidence back, but it's more subdued than before. She started to dye part of her hair pink to symbolize the new pony she became, while embracing the perfect little monster she once was.
