Description
A sorta gift/request/thing for Who is a huge fan of my very little drawn creation Finbar.The swirls on his shoulders are actually decorative scarring, probably done by Finbar himself with his talons.
He was an old design of me trying to figure out how to make a winged humanoid that might, theoreticly, maybe fly.
Although angelic looking, he has more in common with a bird of prey than most depicted cherrubs, and is supposed to have an very broad rib cage and two functional sets of shoulder blades so that his wings and arms could actually move independently.
His wings are probably the wrong size for actual flight, but yeah. Artistic limitations and all that.
Finbar watches her sleep.

Very sweet and tender moment. I love the idea of two sets of shoulder blades. I hadn't thought of that.

<:3 It was the only thing I could think of that would make the arms and wings independent. The muscle structure would be insane though, he'd have a torso like a freaking barrel. @_@ C_C I also gave him some feathers on his sternum and forearms. ^_^;

Oof, with great difficulty I imagine. You might be able to get away with sleeping on your side but I think there would be a lot of feather preening. Heck I'd imagine there would be anyway. @_@ The upkeep to have wings that large would be enormous.

I think birds need to put oil on their feathers too, he'd probably need help to reach half of them. @_@
They'd be a very dependent species I'd think.

*loves the name Finbar* I read a novel recently where a character named Finbar was in it... <3<3 That makes me automatically in love with your creation. X3 Ironically, the Finbar in the book got turned into a swan... o_o;

Well, it's a trilogy. The first book is called 'Daughter of the Forest' the second is 'Son of (the?) Shadows' and the third is 'Child of the Prophecy'. They're really good books and set in Ireland with some of the lore from that area. In fact, the first book is based entirely on an old story where a girl is forced to keep silent for seven years while making her six brothers shirts out of a prickly plant in order to break a spell in which they were turned into swans. :3 Let me go find the author for ya, if you're interested... *searches* Ah, here she is: Juliet Marillier. :3 It's a really great series. ^_^ And I'm absolutely in love with the character Finbar.

OH~! I've heard of that, it's also based on an old myth!
It was quite a story, and the shirts she was weaving, at least in the old myth, were out of thistle. <33

Yeah!! That's what it was. :3 It's a great story and myth. Myth was the word I was looking for and you totally got it spot on. Thanks. XD My brain just isn't working.
She called it 'starwort' in the book, but it might be the same thing as thistle... different names, same things perhaps.

Either that or they made it to something a little more exotic for the purposes of retelling. very cool though!
