Sixbones kinda scared me a bit but I looked up almagamate in google images and found that people are making there own almagamates of undertale characters there's this one with frisk and flowey that's VERY CREEPY!

(SPOILERS ALERT) This is what happends in the alternative ending.(I think) Papyrus fell onto something and somehow died.(legitimately) Then he was injected with "DETERMINATION" and became an amalgam. And Sans was with close contact with Papyrus, he was forced with him.

I thought at first they were melting with Determination like Undyne.

well..they are melting, in a fan-comic, Alphys put determinationn in papyrus because he was falling,...it work for a little wile but then papyrus begin to melt and for some reason, sans "that was holding papyrus melting body" got some of his detefmination and started to melt too
and this is how Sixbones was born...
