Description Part of an ongoing process of studying how to make stunning fictional maps with a more realistic creation process (using plate tectonics, defining climates and so on), which can then be ported to game engines to be used in videogames. This world took a lot of time to make due to having to setup everything from a blank canvas then apply several methods from different tutorials i found in the Cartographers Guild apart of other videotutorials and guides found online (i personally recommend checking Artifexian's channel in youtube BTW).

Still, the outcome isnt really good, i still need to find a proper balance in how to mix cloud patterns and handpainted elevation to make more realistic mountains and terrain differences. not to mention the issue of having to manage different color gradients to be able to paint the biomes (no, just putting a gradient mask where everything at certain latitudes is X color wont do, unless you manually paint some parts and even then it makes everything more burdensome).

The biggest challenge however, is being able to port the map to an engine, it seems wrapping flat maps over a sphere requires a lot of modification and of course, there's also the issue of actually representing the terrain as a modification of the model (you know, procedural planet generation can be done to generate the model but needs to apply elevation using a premade texture or so).

Anyways, this is one of my best works in 2019 so i hope you enjoy it, wouldnt recommend to use it for anything else save for reference if wanting to practice doing maps like these in Photoshop/GIMP + Wilbur
