You can keep those two together in your headcannon. For my headcannon couple is and will be TwiDash. Before explaining why I will warn you that my reasoning is a little out there, so please forgive me ahead of time.
Reasoning is that both Twilight and Dash are too beautiful and cute. For when a character is as beautiful and cute as those two, they deserve to help represent skunks everywhere. By that I mean that those two have the right to be in diapers again.
