Description Leafpool's Kit
In the back of Jaypaw's mind, banished by Spottedleaf, is this, his earliest memory...

The fluffy gray kit squirmed around blindly, trying to find his mother's milk. Another small, soft pelt brushed his as he came upon his dinner at last. Dimly, he was aware of the cold wind ruffling his two day old fur, but right now, getting food was more important.

He heard a cry of pain and surprise sound from beside his mother, one much like the one he'd heard about two minutes ago, followed by soothing words from his mother: "That's right, Squirrelflight, keep pushing! It's almost over!" (He had worked out that there was another full grown cat with them that seemed to be a friend of his mother's.) Then, to him, she said: "Oh, Jaykit, do stop suckling so hard! You'll leave no milk for Lionkit!"

The small gray kit mewled in protest. His mother had moved away! He began squirming around again, looking for her.

Beside him was something small and soft and wet. He nosed it gently, and realized that it was alive. He could hear the other cat licking it in rhythmatic strokes, her labored breathing slowly returning to normal.

The kit squeaked indignantly. He needed milk too! He opened his eyes as far as they would go, and succeeded in unsealing them halfway. Wearily, he took a long first look at the world around him.

There was a large ginger shape lying in the snow near him, the snow around her a light red color. Beside her was another fuzzy shape, this one a brown tabby. It was licking a small, golden-furred kit, while the ginger shape licked what appeared to be a tiny, newborn black-furred kit.

The frozen ground stung his little paws as he wiggled toward the tabby shape. I want licks, too! He tried to go faster, working his tiny paws frantically on the snowy earth.

The tabby, who was slowly becoming more and more distinctive as he approached, laughed. "Look at you go! Squirrelflight, do you see him? What a warrior you'll make, my son!"

The kit gazed upward, his half-opened eyes staring into those of the tabby. She blinked at him, all the love in the world contained in her eyes. That's her, he thought. That's my mother.

Gently, the tabby leaned down and began licking his head. "I'll always love you, little one," she whispered. "And I'll always be near you, even if you don't know it."

The kit felt so tired and warm and safe; he began purring softly, and his tiny eyes closed again.

As he dozed off, he heard his mother say quietly to the ginger cat, "Wouldn't Crowfeather be proud?"

*                                *                               *

The kit was having a dream, his first dream. He was walking through a forest, green with newleaf, much like the one he and his mother had just been in. His tiny paws made little crunches on the forest floor as they squashed the leafy carpet he walked on. Son of Leafpool and Crowfeather...

He whipped his head around and stared at the forest behind him. Was he hearing things? Holds the powers of the stars in his paws...

"Jaykit," called a soft voice from behind him. Confused, the kit spun around.

"Who are you?" he squeaked in surprise. Before him was a slender tortishell she-cat with a beautiful face. He felt rather shy and looked down at his little gray paws.

"I am Spottedleaf," the cat said, smiling gently. "I am here to talk to you." There will be consequences for Leafpool's actions...

"Why?" the kit asked. "Did I do something wrong?"

The tortishell's eyes were shadowed with sadness and regret. "No, dearest," she purred, stepping closer to him. "But StarClan have a different path laid out for you, one where you cannot have the gift of sight. I have come to claim it back from you."

The kit cocked his head in confusion as she came even closer. "StarClan?" he squeaked. "I don't understand." His powers cannot exist without darkness to guide him...

Spottedleaf sighed sadly. "You cannot become what you are destined to become if you stay the way you are." At the kit's puzzled look, she cried, "Oh, Jaykit, I'm so sorry!" He could hear her stifled sob of pain.

She was so close now that he could feel her breath on his fur. "Why?" he cried, eyes widening. "What are you going to do to me?!" Not all may keep the gift of the sight...

Spottedleaf lowered her nose to his and murmured, "I'm sorry it has to be this way. Now sleep... sleep, and forget me..."

Fighting his sudden exhaustion, the kit tried to wriggle free of her. "No," he groaned. "No, I don't want to... forget..." But a wave of snow crashed over him, and by the time Jaykit's world went black, he had already forgotten everything.

All alone in the forest of dreams, a tortishell cat gazed sternly at the trees around her. "Silence, now, or he will learn the truth before he is ready!" And, in response, the last whispers of the forest died down...

*                                *                               *

Jaykit awoke, his sides heaving, his heart beating faster. The world was dark. He got to his paws unsteadily and wailed for his mother. Why was everything dark?!

"Hush!" came the frantic reply. A paw prodded him forward, and the kit stumbled, nearly falling face first into the snow.

"Squirrelflight, don't be so rough!" scolded the voice of his mother, from farther away. "He's only a three day old kit!"

"I know, but Brambleclaw will be worried that we've been gone so long. Leafpool, don't you think he'll notice? The kit looks nothing like us!"

"He won't notice, Squirrelflight. Nobody but us will ever know!"

"Not even Crowfeather?"

Silence. No matter how many times he blinked, Jaykit's vision refused to clear. He blinked harder, more frantically.

"Not even Crowfeather," his mother said softly. "Now hurry, Squirrelflight! I'll come with you and say I helped deliver them. No one will suspect a thing."

Jaykit was prodded forward again, (probably by the ginger cat), and, still blinking, he padded onward, through the snow. Two other small, warm pelts touched his on either side, encouraging him on.

After what seemed like forever, Jaykit gave up. His vision wasn't going to clear. He stopped blinking.

The kit's world was forever black.

oh my god i love it and i think your thery is correct cuz jaypaw/kit always had dreams aboyut treding through snow his mother always a few tail lingths away. its probaly it because a normal clan born kit usaly dosnt have any powers that can hold the destiny of thunderclan let alone the forest so i bet jaypaw, hollypaw, and lionkit are leafpools kits but anyways ur so good a writeing i love it! now i cant wait till the rest of the power of three books come out !

This is awesome. Except...it's very unrealistic for jaykit to walk and open his eyes (even halfway) at two days old. o_O

Though, I've alreasdu beileved this. I'll have to write what I think, then I'll give you the link to -maybe- put on this.
