Description

A journal cover/compilation that goes over the two styles I've been trying to hone most and the fact that I love them both. Each one has its specialty as well as its advantages/disadvantages. Which one do you like more or do you like them both equally? Which one would you like to see more of in the future? This one's on the much shorter side (~2 minute read), so I hope you enjoy!

Journal:

Style Usage: Vectors and NaturalYo, folks! Just wanted to pop in for a moment to let those who like the vector style know that I haven't forgotten it nor will I stop using it completely. The reason why so much work recently uses the natural strokes is because I felt that area needed a lot of work/polish and I must say...I'm digging it quite a bit. The people that gave advice about how to do it really helped. It's faster to a degree and I don't have to worry too much about using tons of vectors and having to manually edit each one to make the drawing, which while it looks really good, can take a long time. Using the natural style also allows for a great degree of stroke freedom and once the line art is done, it's done and ready to be colored. However, it's a pain having to do the same stroke tons of times if it isn't exactly as you like (especially curves/circular ones) and it's harder to use the magic wand and get areas you need to color with it. But now that I've done that style for a bit, I'm starting to miss the other, too. There has to be a way to sort of balance the two out as we move forward.Another reason is that in the past, I sort of felt a negative aura from other artists sometimes when it came to using them and showcasing my work and to a degree, made me feel very inadequate or inferior. I wanted to prove to them that I'm not dependent on the medium or using them as some sort of crutch. I can do both. It may have looked as if I was dependent on them first, but I was just starting out with digital art and found a style/medium that clicked with me, so I took advantage of and used it. Nothing wrong with that, right? A style is a style and for the record, everything is drawn out via sketches naturally before cleaning it up with the usage of vectors and I have no shame in using tools that our programs specifically provide to us to make our art the highest quality it can be. So, do myself and other artists a favor and let them make art how they like and get off your high chairs and let's make some art!Today's Journal Cover
