Description
Hyena at Busch Gardens in Tampa FloridaI've never seen one of the hyena's awake! DX Usually their sleeping in the corners where you can hardly see them but today one of them was sleeping out in the sun. Next step is to catch them when their actually awake!

Think they are nocturnal - you might have better luck at night

I would love to go see them at night but sadly the park closes at 7:00 DX I revisited their encounter around 6:30 but they were still napping. I'm hoping that I can get to the park right when it opens one day so I can catch them awake before they begin their sleep pattern though ^^

Don't they have night tours? Our local zoo did specially arranged night tours and behind the scenes tours. Well... good luck. Otherwise you can maybe try catching them at feeding time?

they do but for the park you have to be 21 and older and it costs about $60 a person. I wouldn't mind paying the fee at all but I'm not 21 yet, still got 3 more years to go until I can participate in the tour. so for me i just have to try and find them awake right when the park opens.
I know their feeding time is about thirty minutes after the park opens so i just have to try and get there early enough one day to do it. ^^

How strange to be 21 before a tour like that! They have little kiddies and a few teachers/ parents join the tours here. Well - good luck getting to the park early
