Made this for Youmacon .w. Buddy of mine and I are going as Mabel and Dipper, and he just had to have a journal~~We bought a random red book at the thrift store, and I took off the dust coat. I spent a few hours cutting the shapes into the covers, cut and glued on card stock, snapped off the legs of gold paper holders, and superglued everything on with Kragle (Krazy Glue). I cut pieces of rope and tapes them inside, made the tassle from scratch, attached the 'looking glass' thing, and burned the ends of the string to make sure they won't fray. I spent about an hour with a pair of scissors fraying the page edges. I tore a page out, cut off corners, and taped them to stick out. I also spent a long time smearing dirt and sharpie to give it a 'dingy' look. All in all, she took a while to craft, but I'm very happy with the finished product~~
