And this. Such a nice difference

Took about 5 hours, and purely done on Sai. ;D
And yes, mohwark or however you spell it hair
And my greeny lines glow depending on emotion.
Been listening to Pendulum and Skrillex throughout it all. ;D
I made a livestream of the whole thing but it's long and still uploading. (5 hour vid, yes)

Wow just amazing ! Definitively loving it. I wish I can do such things one day !
I might watch the stream, I'm sure I could learn one or two useful things there (even if I'm not using Sai but Photoshop).

I'll watch that when I'll have time.
By the way, I don't really know Sai but I see some people use both Sai and Photoshop for their arts. What's the difference between the two ?

Okay well, Sai is more for realistic painting and expressive arts. What I know most people do is use Sai for lineart as it's way easier to draw lineart on Sai than PS, It's also a lot sleeker. However, PS is more technical, you can transform and make more detailed and indepth colouring with it, and it has quite a few handy things which make it easier to colour/create backgrounds with. I mean, I hate making BGs in SAI, I use PS for that because It's.. Idk,less realistic with paintings? It's hard to explain.

I just tried Sai quickly and I got what you meant. Though you really can do the same in PS, you just need to make yourself the settings on your brush, that's all.

That's true.. but it's just easier in Sai I think. XD

I achieved the same in some seconds.
But... I just realized that I couldn't use them anyway. I think there's a problem with my sketching method because I just can't make lines that fluid. I mean, this requires to make the line in a single, fast attempt right ?

Yes, that's true. I usually keep my wrist on the surface and if I wanted to make smooth lines, I'd just move my fingers up and down with the pen in hand to make smooth curves. Quick, fast attempts are best. ;D Also if you put the smooth settings to the highest, it helps.

I'll try that. There are a few options I didn't saw, like the line-work layers, which are quite incredible. So I think I'll make a weird mix between PS and Sai, actually I think sketching is more comfortable on PS, line-art on Sai, block coloring on PS and shading on Sai.

Hehe, yeah, sure. :3 Btw, colour blocking is available on Sai too, There's a magic wand under the colour changing things.

I know, what I meant by "block coloring" is just filling the line drawing with the flat colors before shading. Here the only argument I have is that PS is more "mobile" than Sai, so it's easier to change brush sizes, zoom and scroll. That's all ^^

But anyway I still can't use Sai properly for the lines. Either the line is rough and looks like a sketch or it's far too thick, unless I spend some minutes making it little by little >< I'll need a lot of training to be able to follow a small curve.
You're going to kill me for your request ^^

Use curves and make sure the edge hardness and stuff is at its hardest and make the canvas larger might solve it.

Sometimes I nearly would be tempted to study art, but I don't think it's what I'm made for.
I'll try that later, lot of maths to revise right now ^^

Maths are also really interesting once you spend lot and lot of time on them. Like, yesterday I learned (basically) how you can compress a file to make a zip without loosing the information.

I never knew zipping does lose information o.o

Ryat In reply to xCollapsix [2012-06-17 12:33:01 +0000 UTC]
It doesn't, and that's precisely what's strange. You never wondered how you could shrink a file without losing any information ?

Okay, well, it's prolly gonna take a freakishly long time uploading to the Livestream, and i'm not sure what the progress is atm. But I'll reply again with the link for ya when it's done.
