This guy's name is DeadKnight. (sorry short notice)
Bruce Wilson is born to Dr. Thomas Wilson and his wife Martha, two very wealthy and charitable city socialites.
He is brought up in Wilson Manor, with its wealthy splendor, and leads a happy and privileged existence until
the age of five, when he is diagnosed with numerous tumors. Naturally, the wilsons had the doctors doing everything they could to stem the progression of the cancer cells over the next few years and seemed to be doing fairly well. After spending three years being cottled by every medical worker in the area and some from different parts of the world, things were looking up. So one day his parents decided they'd take him out to a park to play with other kids his own age, and afterwards they went to dinner. While taking a liesurely walk to see some sights of the city his parents are robbed and killed by a small-time criminal named Joey Colson ( a lower level lackey of The Kingpin, Lex Fisk) who let Bruce live because he doesn't believe in killing children. Bruce Wilson swears an oath to rid the city of the evil
that had taken his parents' lives. Because his father donated generous amount to the local military faction in hopes of keeping the city free of crime, naturally there were some friends higher up who decided to look after the boy.
He ends up being taken in as a ward of the state and is immediately recognized for his physical condition. Even
though his cancer is afflicting him he still somehow maintains a healthy physique. It's later diagnosed through
private military testing that this is because he has the potential to be a host for a self-replicating super healing gene. Bruce requests to join the junior boot camp programs in order to get the training he needs to complete his personal quest and because of the knowledge his "Guardians" possess they let him. He excells at it and soon is moving up through the ranks. when he became a teenager, his "guardian" asked if he would like to be recruited for a special program they were working in.
when told he could achieve vast amounts through the training involved he immediately accepted. Through this program, Bruce and a select few others in his group were operated on and went through rigorous tests and processes. It is here that he is secretly imbued with the healing factor. Because of the healing factor, over time his cancer went into overdrive, scarring him externally and neurologically. Wilson was left in a near-catatonic state, alone in his own brain with the knowledge that he possesses skills and powers worthy and suited to his task. He eventually regains his senses though slightly psychotic and proceeds to engage in intense intellectual and physical training at his family estate; however, he realizes that these skills alone would not be enough, He needed a look, a persona to reflect the massive amount of horrors he had overcome. Wilson remarks, "My disguise must be able to strike terror into their hearts. I must be a creature of the night, terrible..." As if responding to his desires, a bat suddenly flies through the window. He adapts this into his military garb, and alters the colors to a drastic combination of black and red, because even though he's trying to become a fearsome sight, a guy's gotta be stylish.....
