The smoke is gone – Group Vladek

The dark stallion looked in the distance as soon as he reached the top of the hill he had been climbing previously. His orange-brown eyes fixed on the city in the distance, narrowing slightly against the falling rain. The city was an ugly dark place in the middle of the field they were travelling through right now, really. It just sprang from the earth as if someone had just decided that it would be fun to throw some buildings in there. Surrounded by grassy plains painted in green and yellow hues, it seemed quite out of place.
The Andalusian scraped some mud that had been itching from his nose on his leg absentmindedly while thinking. Of course this didn’t help him a lot; he was covered in the substance and especially his legs were as brown as the ground, instead of their usual black color. For a second he thought back to what seemed like moments before, when they had to walk through one big mud-bath. Yes, he had decided already that he quite loved nice, firm soil after the experience of walking on ground similar to a chocolate pudding.
He was mildly interested in what the famous abandoned city would be like, and what it would bring them. Though he was more interested in just passing through, so that they would be able to reach their goal. They were here on a mission after all, and not for sight-seeing. He snorted and went down the hill, keeping an eye on the others of his group, trotting along in a steady rhytm, repeating the motion of shaking his black mane out of his eyes every now and then. Raindrops rolled from his coat as he watched a lone bird fly low, until it went out of sight behind the roofs of the buildings on the horizon. They would be there soon, too.
