Description
Play S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl. Now. Patch it first, too. This bub is holding a Vintar BC, or a VSS Vintorez. Silenced sniper rifle. Thats a stone flower he's holding in the other hand. An 'artifact' created by 'Springboards', gravitational anomalies. They irradiate the body, but create a protective field from being pierced.

Could be a Night Star...'s kinda hard to tell without color.
Nice pic, though. I'm fond of the Vintorez-aside from the fact that you're the only one in the Zone who seems to use one.

The night star is kind of an inverted egg shape, at least to me. Jellyfish and stone flowers are normal egg shapes.

Well, THAT can be solved by flipping it over.
Seriously, all that changes is they get more colorful-though I have to say that the Night Star is -beautiful.-
Right now, I'm trying to work up the nerve to head into the Chernobyl NPP for the second time. The first time, I got raped by helicopters. I've got an RPG-7 with three shots now, so that should help a little.

I assumed that the centre of the artifact's gravity would keep it flipping back. Oh well.
I should really go play that game again.

Ja.
IMO, Pripyat and the Chernobyl NPP were both kinda disappointing, but then I was loaded for bear and deprived of my usual stashes, so it's more understandable.
I was pissed that things fall through the floor in the Strelok's room in the Hotel. I got through that by putting my stuff on the couches, but it was still annoying, especially in the case of artifacts.

The most overpowered gun in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

You think so? 9x39mm really is a powerful cartridge. The Val, the Vintorez, and the Groza should all do the same damage. All weapons of the same caliber should do the same damage. Only the accuracy should be different. If a rifle has a short barrel, like the AKS-74U, maybe there could be a slight reduction in power. From what I've read, the AKS-74U is no less powerful than a full-length AK-74. Naturally, it has less effective range.

The Vintorez does more damage in the game than the rest of the 9x39mm firearm series in the game, I believe. Or at least that's what the properties show.

I changed the scripts for the 9x39 rifles and the .45 pistols so they're more even but I left the different ratings in accuracy and whatnot.

Well you can do that. I left the game unmodded, essentially.

OLP changed some of GSC's settings for Oblivion Lost -- things that didn't need to be changed. For example, the Val has about 2/3rds the stopping power of the Vintorez. They should be exactly the same.

Oh well, whatever. Its still a nasty weapon, more so than the gauss gun.

There are a whole lot of STALKER gameplay videos on YouTube that feature the Vintorez but not many that feature the Val. I've featured the Vintorez in one, maybe two videos, while the Val has been in quite a few. So many STALKER players seem to think they need a scope on everything. I prefer iron sights. Or better yet, iron sights with the option to mount a scope (ultimate versatility).

I prefer the Vintorez because its more accurate, and the scope is a wonderful add-on.

They actually should have the same accuracy since they're basically the same rifle. The scope only improves the user's ability to aim at longer ranges, it doesn't affect the bullet itself. I wish more game developers realized this.

Its prolly the confidence the marked one gets from knowing the rifle already has a scope. Blah, total garbage.
