Description
WARNING, LARGE FILE!!!PLEASE FULL SIZE!!!
So, I've decided to do a little basic tutorial in how I make my avis. I kinda outdated, but this could be useful for the ones who don¡'t have photoshop or any other software since it's for the basic paint that comes in the Windows' accessories.
Still, what I do in this tutorial can be done (an in some cases can be more easily done) with other software like photoshop, gimp, paint.net, etc (some free, some not), The only thing you need to look for is that it has a pencil option (1px thick) and that you can save in .png (if you can't save in .png you can use it in combination with other soft like IrfanView)
Of course, this is just a guide, there are so many variations you can do. If anyone is interested in a tutorial on spacial effect in avis or tards/emots, please let me know
Also let me know if there's something that you don't understand.
Note: I put this under the MS category since the miscellaneous kept saying that the category was closed.
Anyway, Hope you like it...
[EDIT: Sorry if the font is a little crappy, but I'm too lazy to change it. Promise I'll use better ones in the future]

It's a great guide!
But.. I still don't get how to think when doing the shadings.. I feel so stupid XD

I can't shade very well yet either.
I have always assumed it's one of those things some people just get or it comes with practice.
Neither of which I have.

Thanks!!! Glad you like it!!
Sorry for the delay answer... Please don't feel stupid, it's a perfectly reasonable question... I didn't go into much detail in that part...
I'll go into further detail here.
What I do when I shade:
* First pick a source of light, where do I imagine the light is coming in this drawing. In this case is from above and to the left of the little doll. Then I pick a darker tone and shade the areas that are further away from the spot (where I think the imaginary light wouldn't hit, in this case down and to the right). Then I pick a color (or more) in between the base and the dark shadow color to put in the middle and create a gradient, so I'd look softer...
*For the lights I do something similar but placing them were I think the light would hit...
An advise would be for you to look at objects in real life or pictures and try to pick out the light source, where the light comes from, how it hits the different objects, where are the shadows and lights...
Anyway, I tried to explain shading here, but I'm afraid I may have done it poorly. This tutorial (not mine) may clarify doubt for you...

I find it quite simple, yet complete...
If you have any question, please don't hesitate to ask... I'll try to answer...
