First submission! With the Death Note anime finally finished I thought I should do something.
So that's Light from Death Note. I can't colour very well and basically did everything on one layer, before I discovered the Gimp aka poorman's PS and its myraid of functions... still, it took me absolute ages.

- while it has heaps of holes, left very open etc I liked the way how they handled Light's death. manga version Light's just pathetic and undignified. O<

While I prefer watching the anime version of Light's death - as you say, the manga really is kind of pathetic - I have a friend who argues very passionately that a pathetic, undignified ending is more fitting and, frankly, more deserved. And I tend to agree with her.
... That doesn't mean I like to see it, though. XD
This is a really gorgeous piece of art, though. He looks ... well, he looks like a killer, doesn't he? But somehow you've preserved that innocence that he had when he started, and that got all turned around and perverted. It's hard to get both aspects in one pic. Most people just manage one or the other, if they don't miss the mark entirely.

Wow, thanks for your thoughtful comment! Light does seem to polarise people doesn't he...I myself feel very ambivalent towards him. He became such a hateful character by the end, but I still remember what he's like in the beginning - that idealistic boy who wanted the best for his world. >.<

I love L and Light equally. ;-; I can't decide between them at all. I used to prefer L, but then I started to RP Light and he grew on me. A lot. But to his annoyance he could never steal first place from L. :3
But, yes, even though I love Light to pieces, I do recognize that by the end of the series, he's as close to evil as anyone can be. 0_o (I have issues with that word, particularly with applying it to people, but I'm pretty sure that if I could think of people as evil, end-of-series!Light would be in that category.) It's tragic, really.
