Dinosaur Planet Krystal needs moar love.Just a half-way finished piece. Need to redo her teeth/mouth, and figure her anatomy out some more.
Will finish and post her on here, eventually.

I think you really caught DP Krystal's cat-like apperiance! Well done! The eyes especially! I think many forget that she isn't an official canine, nor feline.

Dinosaur Planet does need more love and the smexed up KrystalΒ in SA doesn't do her justice. I'm a little annoyed they did that honestly. but btw, if you don't mind me saying, in response to the whole nose thing, cats being pink and some dogs having pink noses, cat's can have black noses too. or even pink and black speckled ones. Those are cute. :3

Sorry this took so long to reply to.
It's true, canines and felines alike can have all those variations of colors when it comes to noses. Haha, I think I also wanted to mention the length of her snout(?) gave her a feline appearance as well, combined with what seems like the most popular color for a cat's nose, pink. xD Although, the same thing can apply to canines when it comes to how long or short their snouts can be. Overall, Krystal struck a lot of people as a cat at the time, before Rare Minion's collection of Dinosaur Planet information from early 2000's apparently revealed she's from the Vixon tribe. With that said, guess she's a fox now. 
And yes, speckled noses are pretty cute.

Hmm, yeah I saw that. But yes. I always saw her as a Cat and the other guy as a fox I think, Sabre. They sure gave weird designs to them. I mean, Krystal's design in the newer games still looks like a cat to me. Her facial structure is very similar to Katt Monroe's especially when compared to other foxes.

Heh, without the colours, she looks a lot like Katia Managan from Prequel.
I do think Krystal's original design was more interesting compared to what we got now. She was a strong independent character who you got to play as multiple times in the game. Starfox Adventures heavily sexualized her design and turned her into a damsel in distress. She could have been so much more if the original game was allowed to take its course.

I guess it doesn't matter anymore, since Krystal's been confirmed to be a fox and I'll just end up giving her more fox-like features. But still, interesting comparison. 
They really did do everything you just said about the current Krystal. Krystal's original design is much deeper than her Starfox counterpart, I agree. She was an adorable, lovable character and she had a lot of potential. There's a couple good sources for recent information on the game, though, if you're interested, Rareminion's Dinosaur Planet section and the fyeahdinosaurplanet on Tumblr. You'll learn some really cool stuff about her. Probably more than we'll ever get out of the Starfox Krystal, anyway. <.sub>

Maybe she was a cat somewhere along her development. The pink nose would imply that she was feline, although there's also canines with pink noses... Honestly, because she was meant to be a counterpart to Sabre, her being a cat makes sense compared to him being a wolf. At least it did to me, haha.Β
However, there's been recent spoilers on Dinosaur Planet's story and it pretty much confirms she's a fox.

Totally agree with you, Xenixian! I just learned about Dinosaur Planet recently, and I have to say the Star Fox iteration of Krystal just doesn't do her justice like the original version does. I abcolutely love the expression and how you made her look more like a realy cat while still keeping a lot of stylization and ezpression. Beautiful work!

For real. Nintendo just had to change everything to StarFox. I would have loved to the see the original game, but they just had to merge the two worlds and screw everything up. It really ruined the Starfox series for me. x.x

Yeah, I agree.
I really loved Adventures, but I think I would have loved it more as Dinosaur Planet. Guess it's up to the fans to keep it alive, though.
