lol fair enough XD

quick question, for the edges, do you have a special way to make it seem more natural?

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

Nanaki-Murasaki In reply to Resxct [2012-01-16 13:08:52 +0000 UTC]

to get edges that clean you need very tight and i emphasize very tight bevels.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Resxct In reply to Nanaki-Murasaki [2012-01-16 13:23:55 +0000 UTC]

bevels?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Nanaki-Murasaki In reply to Resxct [2012-01-18 11:38:20 +0000 UTC]

this is beveling.
[link]

it adds a smoothed edge to a model to give it more clean appearance. the tighter or less pronounced the bevel the more sharper the model will look.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Resxct In reply to Nanaki-Murasaki [2012-01-18 12:01:23 +0000 UTC]

I see
Its not like smoothing the model then?
making the model appear smooth?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Nanaki-Murasaki In reply to Resxct [2012-01-19 00:29:30 +0000 UTC]

no beveling actually compliments smoothing. By beveling a edge the smoothing of the model is made less defined. beveling also in a way helps a model retain some of its intended shape when smoothed.

this is sample texture for hull: [link] (the actual size is 2048x2048). In 3dsmax UVW unwrap got option for auto generate UV. I use it to generate layout and the edge of layout is edited in corelpp/photoshop. To get a nice touch of metal edge like in image, use motion blur + image sharpen
