luckily for Charolette, being that her body produces poisons she's immune to most intoxicants, though enough of any of them will kill her, she doesn't get drunk or high
my headcanon with spider babes is usually that they have to be immune to drugs and pheremones since they produce strong ones.

okay so I'mna pitch something kinda strange and you tell me if you like it
Magnus stumbles into their room after a party late, maybe drunk, maybe high, maybe both. Charlotte is a little ball of stress. finals are coming up, she is struggling in calculous and english II. calculus because she has trouble in math, and English because she hates the teacher and the stupid topics she gets assigned to write essays on. she's a middle child of 26, and doesn't get along with any of her siblings or her parents, none of which thought she should have gone to college, and she's not sure she should be there, but she can't go home in disgrace and doesn't want t oever live there again anyways. she gets by by working a bunch of odd jobs at a local huge mall, mainly dish washing, but small bits of repair work as well which pays her tuition. the job is stressful and demanding. but she doesn't show any of this stress to anyone. Magnus might have been more careful about interrupting Charlotte's studying if she'd known what kind of pressure she was under, but no one knows that. lack of sleep, stress, and a feeling of isolation combine and charlotte snaps. but she doesn't get up and yell. she's capable of cunning and cruelty from her spider nature, so instead she releases a detoxicant into the air. something that will slam Magnus back to sobriety really quickly. obviously this leads to a heated argument, a little into which Charlotte says "why on earth take substances that damage your brain when you can get the same sort of high without side effects or damage?" which would obviously confuse Magnus, since everyone knows that all drugs, even legal ones for medical purposes have side effects.
which leads to her learning that her roommate can make euphorics, relaxants, and even hallucinogens without side effects or a loss of control of one's actions. Charlotte certainly doesn't admit at this point that she can produce chemicals that would make magnus a slave, since she's real uncomfortable with that ability. here's where I have to guess a little, but I'd guess Magnus would see the possibilities in drugs without side effects and want to sell it, as well as get plenty for herself. which is what brings each into some understanding of the world the other inhabits
if this is too fucked up that's fine, just tossing an idea XD

Nope I like the idea of magnus being addicted to her girlfriend. She’s just a mess but truly just wants to be loved. The feeling of being high makes her seem free and that’s what she really wants.

Charlotte can give her that in a, purer i guess would be the word? form. like for instance, if she gives Magnus euphorics, everything is better, but there's no muzzyness or loos of self control. as you describe her, getting the good feeling without the loss of control would make Magnus very happy.
Charlotte on the other hand comes from a background where mates among other species are supposed to be slaves, which she doesn't want, but she's also got some predatory instincts. having magnus be somewhat dependant on her would please her, especially if it didn't involve mind control

I see Charlotte as kind of mothering Magnus a bit, making her shower frequently, maybe steering her away from more dangerous people. just kind of taking care of her
still don't know what Charlotte wants to do with her life though. any of Magnus's family's connections have anything to do with fashion clothing or textiles?

Magnus's parents would be thrilled their daughter started attending ot higene and //as far as they know// cleaned up off drugs, and would be welcoming to Charlotte. they wouldn't have any idea that the spider girl repaced her old addictions XD
so Charlotte would probably kind of follow in Magnus's mother's footsteps, but what about Magnus, conginue being a party girl, be Charlotte's housewife so to speak and still party occasionally, or might she take up the smalltime selling of drugs Charlotte can produce? //small time because the volume she can make is pretty limited//

Charlotte doesn't like loud noises crowds or drunk assholes, so she'd prob not agree to go to the wilder parties. she's very possesive though, so noone attractive ever gets invited over to their apartment lol

I think Charlotte would want them to move in together in the house. she'd probably like having somewhere she could set up webs perminently. hamocks for sleeping, hanging basket type deals in place of shelves.
