Description

Over the past few weeks, I have been arguing with other DeviantArtists regarding characters, set-ups and the like. Then I thought “it may be better and healthier to get all my aggressions out in one fled swoop”. So now I give you my Top 10 Characters I hate But Everyone Else Loves... or alternatively, my Top 10 Characters I have a strong disagreement on their opinions in terms of likeability, though that's not as good a title.
Disclaimer: Even though this is a top 10 characters list, some will be in groups as I cannot decide one over the other and if they rank similarly in detestability. So as you can tell, it's more of a top 15.The criteria for this list is that I have to dislike or that the character while a majority or a large amount of people actually like them. As mentioned before, groups count as one.
Also, if you have strong feelings against my choices, please read my reasons and if you wish to disagree, please do not use profanity or insults. These are all opinions.

10. Diamond Tiara - Diamond Tiara was something I always hated: a bully. I mainly left her alone because I was more focused on the series two - parters or anything with Discord.
I know lots of people like her and would react to her being on this list, but you have to understand why I chose her. It isn't because she convinced Babs to torment her cousin and her friends. It isn't because she made fun of what can be described as a disabled pony (disabilties are a thing in Equestria, just look at Derpy (the best pony evar)). It isn't that she was essentially a manipulative boss figure at one point. What gets me is that everyone seems to be jumping on the bandwagon too fast and forgets about all the wrongdoings Diamond ever did. I attribute this to the Portrait of Dorian Gray in that one good deed doesn't change all the wrong that happened before.
I also feel that Diamond falls into a category of “Frieza Syndrome”, something I use to describe a villain that may be the most iconic for the protagonist or story, but are outdone by another villain.
I found the events of Crusaders of the Lost Mark too fast paced, the revaluations too hard to swallow and her change too quick. If a bit more time was put into it, if she wasn't forgiven 100% and the rest of the reform was saved for another episode, I would be less hard on the little filly.
What I would do was made the Crusaders OK with Diamond Tiara, but still a tad untrusting or even not that keen at the moment, like how Treehugger was to Discord. Speaking of whom, Q's ponysona appears and takes DT and the Crusaders across time and space to view what happened to villains both current and former “A Christmas Carol” style to teach her that even though she is not liked by people she wants to be friends with, doesn't mean it would be like that forever.
Diamond may have made the cut, but it wasn't because the change was bad, it was just the reaction and pace.

9. Batman - The Dark Knight is by far one of the best heroes of all time, lasting just as long as and considered an equal to Superman, but I cannot for the life of me take Batman seriously.
I mainly have the same problems with Batman as I do with Diamond Tiara, only worse. People overhype Batman to the point where they think he can do things that are unrealistic even by DC's standards.
Aside from that, I also have a problem with two incarnations that people seem to gravitate towards: Adam West Batman (being a silly and not that intelligent in writing to the point where he pulls a gadget or an answer out of his bat - hole) or the Dark Knight Returns Batman in that he is too dark and comes off as a bit of a lunatic. A guy dressed as a bat, a lunatic? A shock, right?
I still do like Batman, only when he has a bit of a happy balance between the extremes: dark, but still human.

8. Leshawna - Total Drama Island was originally played straight and probably had the best characterisation in season 1. Leshawna was annoying and gave little interest for me to latch onto her character. Heather was mean, Duncan was tough and Izzy was fun. I liked other characters here and there, Leshawna was one that I actually could dislike.
I put her above Batman and Diamond Tiara because its more of the reaction of those characters that landed them on this list while Leshawna is the turning point for characters I actively hate for in universe reasons. She goes from just loud to being loud and annoying.
Maybe it's because I gravitated more towards characters that were more fun, evil or both, maybe her brand of arrogance rubbed me the wrong way. I don't know, lets just say her coming 5th is the best thing going for her.

7. Candace Flynn - Annoyance, thy name is Candance.
Her shtick is simple: see Phineas and Ferb doing... something and tries to rat them out, only for it to disappear inexplicably. I just hate characters that don't just use the simplest terms imaginable and don't realise the obvious. She always does the same thing.
All she has to do is look out her window, take a picture and she wins! Yet she always panics, gets overexcited and luck goes against her. Plus we never get WHY she wants to do this. It is only one of five questions for a story.
Plus he voice can get on my nerves from time to time. Speaking of which...

6. Marge Simpson - Marge Simpson doesn't get on my nerves, she grates them!
For most of my life, I loved watching the Simpsons. Unfortunately for me, I moved onto Family Guy for a bit and the change up kinda altered my view of the Simpsons... for the worse. I felt the slower movements made their pain a bit too much and their cruelty much worse in context. Marge is one of the worst transitions.
Like Diamond Tiara, I never paid her much mind. I mainly focused more on Homer, Bart or several side characters. The first reason I have to hate Marge is her voice. It just sounds annoying, like she had a permanent sick throat. What followed made it worse as she was against anything violent or graphic to the point where she tries to encourage the Politically Correct to people who aren't interested, thinking the reaction would be the opposite.
She comes off as an idiot on multiple subjects to the point where any time the plot focuses on her, I want to turn it off.

5. Frieza - I cannot for the life of me take this thing seriously!
Frieza is one of the most iconic villains in anime. He is ruthless, sadistic and pure evil... is what everyone else says. To me, he comes off as cocky, spoiled, bratty, self - absorbed and completely overshadowed by every villain from Android 19 to to Kid Buu, even to the point where he needed to be retconned to become a villain again.
I hate Frieza on the grounds that he is called a good villain, yet we have little to no in universe information on him, he is not threatening in the slightest and he has lost so many times that any threat he poses becomes moot. People say that he is a combination of all Akira Toriyama's worst fears. That is a good idea, but all I get is that Toriyama is afraid of transvestites and xenomorphs. Even his golden form sucks, as it was just a recolour.
What hammers in the fail of this character is that the revaluation that he never trained and if he did, he would shoot up in terms of power that is unbelieveable, and in the bad way. Taking all this into account, why didn't he train on his way to Earth? Why didn't he train in case a threat arose as did the Saiyans?
To top off the mountain of fail, he has a non - canon brother called Cooler, who is much smarter than Frieza and comes off as a more competent villain. Even his 5th form is impressive! If only he were canon, perhaps Revival of F could've had his whole family involved. Better than the failure of a villain.
I mentioned in the entry with Diamond Tiara that I called something “Frieza Syndrome”, this is why. Frieza was immediately outshone by many, MANY villains that appeared after and some were better. My favourite canon DBZ villain is Cell in his imperfect form, mainly because that was when he was at his scariest, drinking people.
As a villains enthusiast, I can tell you when a villain sucks. Frieza fits that bill.

4. Dolores Umbridge - Dolores Umbridge. I hate hate hate hate this walking pink so much that I would become a Deatheater just to have an excuse to use one of the three unforgivable curses on her!
As I said twice before, major villains enthusiast. One of the things I hate in characters are just little control freaks that feel like something should be a certain way just because they say so. This is Ms Umbridge in a nutshell.
She used a magic quill to torture those who she wants to discipline by scaring them with a message that she wants them to learn, tries to harm staff and students alike and does so while being so perfect and dainty, with all her cat pictures and pinkness. I don't know how she survived those Centaur at the end of the Order of the Phoenix, but I wished they would've ended her!
What? I must not tell lies.

3. Mordecai and Rigby - You know those lazy teenagers that claim they are mature, smart or talented when in reality they are lazy and no good? That is Mordecai and Rigby in a nutshell.
Regular Show is one of those shows that I just can't to stand the premise of, but Mordecai and Rigby hammer in why I hate these kind of characters. They are just so lazy and stupid with little to no variation on their character that it just hurts. The way they make that “Oh~” noise, they way they sound like they're from the 80s, its like Bill and Ted without the charm of Rufus, mixed with Jay and Silent Bob, if they were both Jay!
Safe to say I haven't watched Regular Show in a while and there are many more characters I hate, but the rules are the rules. I still hate that show.

Edit 2. Derek Zoolander - I was at a get-together with my cousins one night and we were watching Big Hero 6 while eating take-out pizza. I enjoyed my time there... until they put on Zoolander just to irritate me. I told them I wasn't a fan of Will Ferrell movies in that he was too... silly. Zoolander was one of the WORST films I have ever seen: The jokes are stupid and easy to spot, the characters are idiots (tying into the last part, is one of the stupid jokes) and Zoolander himself is insufferable! I hate the way he sounds because it sounds like he's constantly talking to a baby while being on that same intellectual level and the way he looks is so bad that it makes me sick. Do yourself a favour and watch Deadpool instead of the squeal!

1. Mabel Pines - I am going to get a lot for this one.
Like Diamond Tiara, Mabel was neutral for me at the beginning of Gravity Falls. She was a fun, energetic character that had strong moments and even some good development. Then Dipper and Mabel vs. the Future came around the corner and I started to tip. I found a piece of artwork that showed Mabel taking Journal 3 before Dipper could find it, using the Tape measure time machine. By the time I actually watched the episode, I found more art depicting Mabel doing several things like that first image and was thinking if Mabel did anything like that, I would hate her.
She gave the rift to Bill Cipher.
Now she did it unknowingly and it was a while between then and Escape From Reality came around and that twinge of darkness every die - hard Mabel fan fears/despises in my heart grew. Bill had imprisoned her in a world made for her. She was happy there with everything she ever wanted, 80s music, boys and rainbows galore. What cemented the previously mentioned darkness was a revaluation that came from two things that came up when we first see Mabel and during the “trial”, both in the order of least to most despicable. First, she had a replacement for Dipper called “Dippy Fresh”, one that was unconditionally loyal to Mabel. Secondly, during the trial, we see Gravity Falls going to hell and Mabel doesn't even react to this.
What makes me hate Mabel so much in this episode is that she is so selfish. When she doesn't get what she wants, she just hides in make - believe land and ignore everyone she cares for going through who knows what! Even Stan wanted to rectify his mistake when he realised what he did to Ford, Mabel was just all too happy to let others get terrorised at the very least and die at the very most! You may say that she just doesn't want to grow up and keep holding onto the fun times with her brother. But it was this kind of thinking that caused Weirdmageddon in the first place! Plus I'm pretty sure morality is still a factor whether you are young or old. And Mabel is in the age range I would assume right and wrong are apparent in good kids!
Ignorance is Bliss, but at what cost?

There you go, my hatred in moderate abundance. If this was a list for the sake of pure hatred, several of these characters wouldn't be here. If you respect my choices and understand where I'm coming from, thanks for your patience and understanding. If you don't and want to debate against me, come at me bro! Or sis, I'm not sexist.
