This is a very dear species to me. Because of this, it is semi-open. If you would like to make your own, please just ask. 99% of the time I will say yes. If I find one you have made without permission, I won’t freak out, but I will be annoyed. I will be very unhappy, however, if you make one and call it your own design.

Physical Attributes:

• Name: Ventum

• Age: This species has existed a long time for me. I invented them when I was about eight or nine, and they have persisted in my life from then on. So I decided to make them a species of mine.

• General Appearance: This species has a wyvern appearance. They have two wings and two limbs. Their general colorings are dark earthy colors, such as black, brown, grey, or deep green, with undertones of Amber, purple, green, or red. Males have curled horns, females have straight horns. Males and females are both generally about the same size. They are about the size of an average horse.

In anthro form, they can have breasts, but no other visible genitalia. They do not posses wings when anthropomorphic, and can shape shift into a feral form with ease.

If you have a feral Ventum, it cannot shift into anthro. However, if you have an anthro Ventum, it can shift into feral form. Hopefully that makes sense.

Rare colors are solid black, sandy brown, and deep red.

• Lifespan: about 200 years

• Defence Mechanisms/Strategies: They have powerful jaws and razor sharp teeth. The talons belonging to their back legs can be formidable weapons as well.

• Abilities: once a Ventum reaches 160 years of age, they develop venom glands. This can cause great pain to the skin, and will blind you if it contacts your eyes.

• Locomotion: Because of their anatomy, Ventum prefer to spend their time in the air. Their legs are unsuitable for walking on the ground. If walking is necessary, they will drop down and use the joints of their wings to walk.

• Herbivore, Carnivore or Omnivore?: They are carnivorous

• Diet: their diet mainly consists of large birds, such as eagles. But if needed, they will snatch up a medium sized animal from the ground, such as a coyote or goat.

• Intelligence: They posses higher intelligence than most animals, being able to memorize complicated commands, faces, voices, and scents. They can be tamed by some who have the confidence and drive to do so, and make caring and useful companions. Their riders, however, would say that it is not taming that creates this, but rather a bond.

When in anthro form, they posses normal human intelligence.

• Illnesses: they are pretty resilient to most illnesses, but can get a fever from scale mites.

• Predators: no natural predators other than enemy clan Ventum and human poachers

• Problems: The only physical problem they have is terrestrial locomotion. Other than that, when they stick to their proper environment, they have no problem getting around.

Species Culture:

• Habitat: The majority of the species lives in high mountain ranges, such as in Asia, Russia, and South America. However, some clans have been spotted in deserts and valleys.

• Environment: they prefer to live in the mountain ranges because of easy lifting off and landing.

• Time Period (in roughly what year or stage of evolution eg. dark ages, space age, does this species exist): they were much more prominent in medieval times, but were nearly wiped out by knights and their more burly dragon counterparts. In this present age, they are extremely rare.

• Rituals/Traditions: when a Ventum finds a human it wishes to bond with, it leaves its clan to join the human wherever he/she goes.

• Language: grunts, whistles, and hisses

• How does the species attract a mate?: when a Ventum wishes to mate, they let out a mating call, and flare their head spikes in a particular way. The males give off hormones, and the females pick whom they want. Ventum mate for life.

• Gender Status: males and females are treated the same. Neither is more dominant than the other.

• Do they travel in groups/packs or alone? Ventum live in large groups called a clan.

• Government: The leader of the clan is always the oldest. Once the leader dies of whatever cause, the next oldest takes their place.

• Clothing (do they wear clothes?): they only wear clothing in anthro form.

• Does their religion dictate their clothing preference? (eg. always wearing religious robes/garments/symbols): they don’t have a religion, unless they are in anthro form.

• Religious beliefs (how important is it to them?): none, unless in anthro form.

• Other beliefs (any beliefs caused by a lack of knowledge, illusion, etc): no

• Jobs (what jobs are unique to this species? How important are these jobs to supporting the species as a whole?): all Ventum take on whatever role is important to the clan. If food is needed, then whoever needs to hunt, hunts. If care of little ones is needed, then it is done.

• Law: most things are looked over, even the death of a fellow Ventum. However, if a mother, a pregnant female, or hatchling is killed, the murderer is punished with death.

Aging:

• How do they procreate?: the usual way

• Infancy: the hatchlings are highly revered in a clan, and are protected at all costs. The reason for this is, a Ventum can only have a hatchling once a year. So because of this, hatchlings are looked after every day until they can fend for themselves. Mothers and their hatchlings usually have an extremely close bond that lasts for life.
