Ive only celebrated halloween once(im mexican, and that isnt a tradition for us) and it was awesome

Yes, it was fun (I'm Norwegian and it isn't a tradition for us neither, but what about Día de Muertos?)

Well, we just remember our deceased loved ones, we make "altares", were we put different things our loved one liked, a photo of him/her, sugar skulls for decoration, xempasuchitl flowers, an ark, a little road(it simbolizes their walk to the other life) a ceramic dog(who will follow them and guide them)
Pan de muerto(Dead man bread) so it can eat and recharge energies, water, to calm their thirst, and other things I dont remember well,
It actually doesnt have anything related to disguising and asking for candy.
But on frontier cities some celebrate halloween(im from mexicali, which its an example) but theyre few.

well, Dia de muertos is always celebrated on November 2, so its 2 days after Halloween
