Description the same ship but with the turrets added. I've been trying to think of what I could add as far as detail, so any ideas would be appreciated.

ah much better rend!!!!!!

a few ssimple hull plates should help with the detail, just grab polygons in a few areas and extrude by local normal. then grab the sides of those extrusions and extrude them as well...plates always add the feel of detail and scale...and they are easy. some more turrets, maybe some big ol honkin ones on those side decks would be nice too. also it begs to have a row of torp tubes on either side of that nose and a fixed forward huge cannon pplunked into the front of each side deck would also fit well

one noticeable geometry fix is needed. looks like you have a pinched polygon, or an outta whack normal on the side at the top where the bow begins to bend downward. try editing the triangulation on that polygon, and if that doesnt work, then move the vertexes areound so that the angle between the edges isnt as steep, if that doesnt work, try editing the normals. hope thats at least a little bit helpful.

but damn im really liking where this is headed!!!

for hull plating couldent I just use bump maps? The polys on the sides of the ship are a little to big to be used for that.

i mean big pronounced plates...the kind of thing tha obviously sticks out and looks bolted to the outer hull. and if the poly'ss yoy want to do it with are too large then detach them to separate elements and then scale them down before extruding. if you do that you also keep the original hull unchanged in case you dont like the plate there...and it will allow you to build several possiblilities
