Xenothere — Celadon Kirin

Description I haven't decided, for myself, how I want to represent the Kirin. Every Kirin I have drawn seems to look very different.

My inspiration for this one was tapestries (specifically, The Last Unicorn) and Albrecht Durer's engraving of a rhinoceros, which can be seen in the background. I believe that Indian rhinos were what inspired the legendary Kirin, because of their single horn and their thick hide.

Celadon (pale, sea foam green) was my color of choice because it reminds me also of east Asian pottery of that color and name.

lovely work! I think a fav is in order. I can't get over how well you've done the skin to the scales look so detailed
