Description
The shadows come again...The Wraith... the mightiest of the shadows. They represent his pain, and act as executioners and torturers... even among their own kind. They appear and disappear mysteriously, and are invincible to all forms of pain.
More to come... eventually.

They're the strongest of the bunch. And they CANNOT DIE. Period. They can be willed out of existence by their master, Xeranad, but they cannot be killed. They can be trapped, and they refuse to go out into sunlight, but they will not die.
I think I've made my point.

kinda redundant after the tittle and the responses to people. "indestructible" was enough

They look cool, but I have to ask if they are from the Pegasus galaxy?

No... they are merely representations of Xeranad's inner pain, or anguish. As a result, they are pain personified, inflicting death and torment on whoever and whatever they come across. They are also invincible and cannot, under any circumstances, be killed. Xeranad alone has the power to will them out of existence. Though, they can be deterred if you go into sunlight... which they will adamantly refuse to walk through if it can be avoided. It's a weakness all the shadows share... the weaker ones die from it, while the strong ones (like this Wraith), only become sluggish and tired.

Looks very muscular and menacing, yet very eerie given their frame

What did you expect when the thing is based off of Pyramid Head?

Pyramid Head seems to be the epitome of a near indestructible force with the ability to still scare the living sh*t out of anyone O__O

Oh yeah. If his appearance doesn't scare you, what he symbolizes will. He's so riddled with symbolism... he puts KEFKA from Final Fantasy VI to shame! And that guy's final battle was filled with so much symbolism it made me literally want to hurl.
Pyramid Head... is just the very symbol of survival horror. Nuff said.

Yeah, I know what he(PH) stands for(kinda, anyway). What he stands for is pretty noble and understandable in my opinion.

He stands for James Sutherlands desire for punishment for the death of his wife, as well as the darkness within James' soul. It also represents pain. The helmet is visibly uncomfortable, the knife is so heavy it drags along the floor... It's mere existence is the desire for justice and punishment. What makes it scarier is that it helps you along the way in its own way... it pushes you through a fence at one point so you can reach the next area. And it kills itself/themselves when James finally accepts his loss and accepts the fact that he cannot bring his wife back through his own punishment. It's basically a very disturbing therapist.
Notice how Xeranad seems to draw a lot of inspiration from other sources? A noble desire, yet twisted and malformed into a dark purpose... Xeranad in a nutshell.
