Here she is! ...finally
This is Kristina, a Water Element user from Heaven from 's A Hero's Tale story (and my half of our art trade
)Wow, this was agonizing DX
Aside from dealing with school issues, I never really got this one buckled down: I was always tampering with the colors and overall shapes, notably her bangs.
I had a lot of trouble with the eyes: I made this set to be more mature and a little sly, but then I realized Kristina is supposed to be happy and optimistic... so "sly" didn't really seem to fit
Ironically, when I made another set of eyes that were more cheerful they kinda ruined the rest of the pic DX
...so I switched back to the sly eyes
In complete honesty, I feel like this isn't really my best work in terms of details and shading, but I'm actually kinda of proud of everything else.
The water pouring from her palms was actually an idea I had for one of my OC's who is also a water-user.
Anyways, hope you like it, Tajii-chan~!

I love those eyes and that was a nice idea to have water pouring from her palms. I've had things like that happen with me, trying to change the eyes to fit the character more only to just have it not work well.
At least you did a background, it's better than my random pattern ones.

Yep, the water from the palms thing kinda makes me think of a miracle of sorts, quite notably cool, fresh water in the middle of a desert

I think it turned out great~! ^__^ The water pouring out of the hands only makes her seem more like the water element from my story~ >w<

The other eyes didn't really fit her face very well and they were almost too detailed, so they kinda made the rest of the pic look too plain
I thought it'd be nice and peaceful =3
At first, I thought I'd draw her by a waterfall (in the old Chinese style) but you described her as optimistic and quiet, so I reconsidered it XD

Haha, I originally wanted the BG to be simpler, but it occurred to me that there'd be too much empty space. So for better or for worse, I added mountains

Yeah, contrast can be good for somethings, I just didn't think it'd go well with the whole "go with the flow" character of water
Haha, yep! The quiet and happy ones usually have drastically different pasts
I'd say I'm more partial to forests and hills rather than actual mountains... but mountains are easier for me to draw

Sort of. Some of my family lived there so we visited just about every summer when I was a kid; we used to stay at my grandma's house--my grandpa built it--and when her health declined we started staying at my aunt's house.
You get a perspective of island life that now tourist can really understand.

Yeah, so you get to see what regular life is like on O'ahu.
My great aunt lives in Kauai in a really rural area. It's pretty neat because you don't really experience the country in Hawaii very often.
