I had been observing AI art development for some time. People have managed to do so many fascinating things, but the barrier of acquiring a new tool and learning to work with it felt like something for a time when I was more resourced and ready. At the beginning of this week I got a local build of Stable Diffusion running on my machine and got to explore its power as a creative engine.

I feel profound awe for the empowerment that is possible through working with AI and decided to create a piece using the principles I developed when I started evolutionary painting the better part of a decade ago. A workflow I came across with AI fills this philosophy incredibly well and has been a great teacher about how to promote evolution within an environment with specific goals. It’s a reminder that even when everything is made of 99% errors it’s possible to still produce net value, finding the signal within the noise and enhancing it for the greater well being of all.

Before this was an image its skeleton was laid with the prompt “Oil painting of hounds stalking a glowing hare through the wilderness”, I used this as a base and continued to expand by generating additional variations with leading prompts, and through painting in photoshop to give Stable Diffusion more specific guidance about what I was looking for and that simple base grew and transformed until it became this expression.

For my first piece working with AI I was able to capture some of the feeling spaces that are meaningful to me, creation, growth, connection, integration, and emergence. I was able to at least partially depict mutually beneficial consumption with consent where all parties are empowered through the process. Profound joy and appreciation for all parties along with the expansion into new forms of consciousness, embodiment and expression.

AI also aligns with my belief that all beings deserve hyper abundance! With the ability to create variations it gives the opportunity to have a balanced explore/exploit model in refining elements and finding where something new can serve.

What are the ways that are meaningful for you to express? Is there an area of your life you’re willing to welcome greater abundance than you previously believed possible?

AI is an art ally that has brought me far more than I expected and I came in anticipating a lot!
