I just found this painting program called Krita...and I instantly fell in love with it! This painting started as a simple test, but i couldn't stop painting. It's an amazing program and it's even free - give it a try and love it!100% Krita, straight out of my mind - no refs (except for the owl)

Schönes Bild durch seine Einfachheit
Die Sonnenstrahlen mag ich viel, sie machen die Stimmung der Gemälde mit (ich hoffe, dass was ich schreibe verständlich ist -_-). Die Grünnuancen geben auch ein süßes Licht zum Landschaft und die Eule gibt ihm etwas Leben hinzu.

Is the season relevant to a fantasy painting? I had nothing specific in mind and it's not supposed to look "real"

Hmmm.... I guess it would depend on the message convaying through the painting... it seemed that yours did but as I read through the comments I saw that you said that you had just come up with that by doodleing... so perhaps it has a hidden message?..
