Description One of my photograms - Just an experiment that I'm not currently experienced in at all; having a mess-around in the darkroom..

The layers used here are:

1 - Negative slide, at an angle inside the negative carrier, (the negative is bodyscape photo of mine)
2 - Peackock feathers - (cheesy...but ehh..)

Funny how youngsters still practice this kind of technics in the darkroom. I am very happy to know it. Ever heard of Man Ray?

I agree - I think it's a very beneficial technique to at least experience - it's a shame that these days more tend to begin with digital and never work manually..

Yes of course - Man Ray is a fantastic photographer, and artist for that matter.

I am a bit puzzled by you... are you in an Art school? You are so young and though you sound very mature reading your info. Just funny how you know Man Ray and so many very interesting artists. I was a pro photographer in industry then turned to CG.

I was actually studying photography at college for about 5 months (not very long at all!) until I left to start working. But also, at the same time, I decided to study from home and learn at my own pace, develop my own techniques and express my own creativity to my -own- brief, instead of those presented by a curriculum. I find that learning with your own resources to your own preference is far more productive and beneficial to you as an individual artist.

Learning alone may take much more time and leading sometime to mistakes others went thru before. Though, since I am a self-taugh either, I know that this way is a good one if you practice a lot. Some kind of empirism.

That's a very good point - but I also see it an opportunity to learn from those mistakes, and is most effective! However, picking up answers, ideas and learning through a lot of research/study and reading books will be great for correcting yourself, sometimes even before making those mistakes.

I completely agree with what you say - the most important element; practice and experience! - That is definately the part that will teach you most.
