When I was younger and just getting into the Sonic fandom, the Shadikal ship never made sense to me, 'cause they never meet (To my knowledge)
And now it all makes sense with this comic |D

They never met, but I liked to think that they could have met and that's what I shipped it xD
I liked how both of them have a tragic past and gave their lives for the good of the others and how Tikal and Maria see good in Chaos and Shadow when others are likely to fear them.
And their personalities are the almost the opposite.
Also, there's a cutscene in Sonic Battle in which Shadow listens to someone speaking about a tragedy that happened 4000 years ago (Emerl and Tikal are from the same timeline) and I think that was Tikal.
Professor Gerald knew about Echidna civilization and even used their knowledge on some of his experiments, and the Knuckles Clan surely knew some things about the Chaos Emeralds soβ¦I always saw this as an interesting possibility xD
