I'm a bit confused. In the book Cherno is Mark IV. But in the movie I think they mentioned that he's the oldest.

Movie books are typically based on an earlier version of the script, so it seems likely that Cherno was going to be a Mark IV earlier on, but was changed to a Mark I too late for it to be corrected in the novelization.
