History Overview: Kaalo was born into a cursed clan of sabers, one who had long ago been led astray by a wicked follower of K'malou. The ancestral founder of his clan had fallen prey to the whispers and subtle promises of great power. He became a twisted, cruel creature, forced to adopt a human shape. His ability to lurch between forms in vengeful bouts terrified his family, but their fate was sealed by then. One by one, they shifted erratically, unable to control their rage. Only with time was K'malou's curse brought under heel, and the knowledge of controlling the changes passed from generation to generation. The culmination of these lessons was the coming-of-age ceremony. Each cub knew the dangers of their curse well, raised from a young age with high expectations and firm discipline. The clan turned to the teachings of Assur, trying to uphold her honorable ways in the face of their pain. Fearful that this curse would lead to Kaalo becoming lost forever if something didn't change, his mother sought counsel from an oracle, Augure , who encouraged her with stories of other more peaceful and accepting shifters. Ross met Lauria , a strange and innocent young girl who gave him a glimpse of another life.

As Kaalo completed his coming-of-age ceremony, he adopted the name 'Ross.' He was allowed to leave his clan - and did so at the behest of his mother, who hoped he might find something better. Not long after, he came under the mentorship of a mysterious man whose machinations led Ross down a dark path; only after meeting Lauria again as an adult did he turn from this path and fight for separation from his mentor and that legacy. Ross is a mighty and effective warrior who seeks to lead by example; your struggles and suffering do not determine your future. You are the guardian of your fate.
